The April 21, 2021 Executive Council meeting was led by members of the Chicago Wilderness Planning Group and the Institute for Conservation Leadership. The summary data here is intended to support the next steps in the work to support the on-going development of the Chicago Wilderness plan and the engagement of members of Chicago Wilderness.
The meeting outcomes were:
▪ Better understand Chicago Wilderness and the planning process to shape its implementation efforts;
▪ Learn how ICL's involvement will support Chicago Wilderness' development as a network, including a discussion of network theory; and
▪ Provide feedback about current member realities, as well as what members want the plan to do for them and the alliance.
As part of the preparation for the meeting, members of the planning group and steering committee created the following graphic to help orient Executive Council meeting participants to Chicago Wilderness:

The Chicago Parks District is working on a new, exciting conservation project in the city to create more spaces for flowering lawns, and they want your input before they get started! They have teamed up with students from the Environmental Science Department at DePaul University to research what local community members think of this new green initiative! Please take 10 minutes to complete this survey. Your feedback is incredibly important and will help guide their conservation work!

The International Urban Wildlife Conference is going VIRTUAL! This conference will create an interactive forum for urban planners, researchers, city and county staff, students, educators, biologists, and ecologists of all backgrounds from across the globe to highlight research, case studies, policy initiatives, thought exercises, and discussions related to wildlife and natural resources in urban environments. The theme for this year's conference is Changing Narratives.
Because our conference is international and virtual, we are accommodating different time zones by providing an exciting mix of recorded presentations that you can view when it’s convenient for you, recorded presentations will be available beginning May 18, 2021, and live events that will incorporate presentation topics with dynamic discussion and Q&A from May 25 – 27, 2021. The conference sessions include:
1. Live 30-Minute Q&A (a hybrid of pre-recorded and live): Speakers will provide a recorded version of their presentation, not to exceed 15 minutes in length, and then attend a live 30-minute event with other speakers in their session. During the live session, speakers can answer questions and engage in discussion with the other speakers and conference attendees.
2. Live Workshops: Speakers and moderators will appear live, virtually, to conduct their workshops. Format varies by session, coordinated by the moderator.
3. Live Symposia: Speakers will present presentations and participate in Q&A and discussions in real time.
