CLIMATE ACTION
SEEKING A CO-CHAIR and WELCOME TEAM MEMBERS! Contact Doug Stotz for more information. The Climate Action Committee met on Feb 3 at CMAP to review and advance an appendix on the midwestern region to a Forest Service science synthesis on Urban and Wildland-Urban Interface Forests and Rangelands Under Changing Conditions.
Climate Training and Engagement Team is hosting a 3-part Climate Clinic for educators and others. Feb 12, 19, 26. Contact Susan Ask for more details.
CMAP and Metropolitan Mayors Caucus is in the process of developing a regional climate plan focused on actions taken at the municipal level. Greenest Region Compact has assembled a critical mass of local governments interested in integrating climate data into mitigation, planning and policy. Now 10,000 cities are involved in climate action plans. Chicago Wilderness region is one of four regional pilot projects and working through this plan as well. CORPORATE COUNCIL
The Corporate Council met on Nov 14 at the Chicago Botanic Garden for a recap of recent activities within CW. Kevin Ogorzalek from Barry Callebaut Group gave a presentation on sustainable sourcing methods within the chocolate industry. Corporate Council members then adjourned to the CW Partner Appreciation event. Next Meeting will be Feb 25 at ComEd

EDUCATION
The Education Committee met on Jan 8 at the Brookfield Zoo to learn more about early childhood education across the country and to discuss local success models. The documentary, "No Small Matter", made by Chicago filmmakers about the importance of rich experiences at a young age and the lifelong benefits conveyed. The film also highlights programs across the country. Filmmaker, Greg Jacobs, led a discussion after the screening and three models of early childhood programming success: El Valor, Chicago Commons, and Brookfield Zoo's own Nature Start program were featured.

WILDLIFE COMMITTEE
The Urban Wildlife Information Network (UWIN) Summit was held Nov 3, 2019 at the Lincoln Park Zoo. UWIN, coordinated by LPZ's Urban Wildlife Institute, is a collaboration of urban ecologists using identical methods to collect data on how wildlife exists in urban areas and how they impact city residents. This first-of-its kind networks is now home to 24 partnering cities throughput the US and Canada. Full Details
CW Wildlife Committee Annual Seminar will be on March 19 at the Bartlett Nature Center. Join wildlife and natural resource professionals from the Chicago Wilderness region to network and learn about current wildlife management, monitoring, research and conservation projects from other members. Speakers will talk about local wildlife related research and conservation work. Contact Gary Glowacki if you would like to suggest any speakers, topics of interest or agenda items.
