This trip will showcase a range of innovative approaches to modern agrictulre. At, Golden Oaks, the focus will be on genetic analysis and selective breeding of dairy cows. Liberty Prairie Farm is a farm-to-table operation that supports farmers throughout the production process while also practicing, demonstrating, and teaching conservation agriculture. At the Farm Foundation, participants will see a variety of interesting and less-common crops and learn about efforts to find and support practical solutions to challenges facing agriculture. The brand new Urban Farm Center at the College of Lake County’s Waukegan campus, which will hold its grand opening on October 17, brings these ideas into an urban setting. It serves as a teaching space and food production center, as well as a hub for organizations working in the region to build a more connected and collaborative food system. Field trip schedule: 8:00 AM Meet at the College of Lake County - Grayslake Campus to check in and board the bus for this adventure. Stops include: 4:00 PM Return to the College of Lake County - Grayslake Campus 5:00 PM Optional: Join fellow attendees from all of today's field trips at a networking/social gathering at Bills Pizza and Pub North
