This field trip will be an opportunity to learn more about an innovative approach to recreation, cultural engagement, community-based conservation and site activation. Choose between a paddling or biking tour, followed by lunch, facilitated discussion and interpretive walk! - Experience Beaubien Woods and the African American Heritage Water Trail by canoe. This tour features multiple sites along the African American Heritage Trail including Land and Lakes Landfill, Chicago’s Finest Marina, The Ton Farm site, and the site where Indiana Avenue crosses the Little Calumet River which was an important route for freedom seekers.
- Experience Beaubien Woods and the Altgeld Garden Community by bike. This tour will highlight the partnerships.
- Lunch with networking and facilitated discussion showcasing how multiple Alliance and local community partners are working together in a bigger way.
- Interpretive tour showcasing natural areas other key sites within Beaubien Woods.
