Awards and Recognition with an autumn forest path and a man and woman hiking

The Chicago Wilderness Alliance recognizes outstanding efforts to protect and restore nature across the four-state region with two signature award recognition programs biannually: George B. Rabb Force for Nature Awards and the Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program Accreditation (EERP). The next awards are in 2023.

George B. Rabb Force of Nature Awards

Across the region, a vital and growing community of people is working together to protect, heal, and expand our last natural landscapes, seeking ways to reintegrate nature into our everyday lives and practices. Professionals and volunteers, they’ve devoted themselves to plant identification, children’s education, habitat restoration, regional planning, bird monitoring, and much more, doing whatever they can, from wherever they are, to contribute to a green, thriving region that benefits both people and wildlife.

The George B. Rabb Force of Nature Awards recognize individuals and organizations whose conservation, restoration, advocacy and/or educational activities in the region are inspirational examples for others. They are nominated by their peers. Applications for the 2023 open on June 1 and close on September 13. LEARN MORE

Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program Accreditation (EERP)

Using a rigorous, standards-based approach, the Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program recognizes large, high-quality natural areas and the organizations that manage them. Program accreditations are presented biannually. The accreditation program is administered by the Commission on Excellence in Ecological Restoration.
