The Chicago Wilderness Grassland Bird Committee was formed in 1999 with the goal of designing and applying conservation actions at a landscape-level across the grassland prairies of the Chicago Wilderness region. The group meets twice per year in person and has two field seminars at grassland sites across the region.

The Volunteer Stewardship group collaborates to establish regional standards for stewardship education.

The Wildlife Committee serves as a forum for wildlife managers in the Chicago Wilderness region to network; stay informed and respond to emerging wildlife issues; and form alliances around controversial wildlife topics (e.g., cats, deer, large carnivores, etc.).
