Thursday, February 29 at noon CT. The coastal region of Illinois, a five-mile band hugging the shore of Lake Michigan is tremendously important for millions of birds that migrate through our area every spring and fall, stopping over at important stopover natural habitats that many people and partners manage, to rest and refuel on their migration journey. Audubon Great Lakes is excited to introduce a new interactive web tool to inform the enhancement of coastal habitat for birds during this critical migratory stopover period. Join experts on February, 29th and 12pm CT: Stephanie Beilke, Senior Manager Conservation Science, Audubon Great Lakes Daniel Suarez, Senior Manager of Conservation, Audubon Great Lakes Jennifer Fuller, Project Coordinator at National Audubon Society and Audubon Great Lakes The café will highighlight the new Illinois Coastal Stopover Conservation Tool including how to use it to learn more about diverse birds that use Illinois coastal woodlands, shrublands and grasslands during spring and fall migration, what they need to thrive during this period, where they are stopping over, and how to improve habitat for their particular needs. Although this tool’s target audience is land managers, the data and information is important for all those who are interested in helping migratory birds in our region. We also invite you to provide feedback on how we can help improve this tool in the future.
