Rua Mordecai (US Fish and Wildlife Service) The Southeast Conservation Adaptation Strategy (SECAS) has devised a living spatial plan that identifies important areas for conservation and restoration across the Southeast US and Caribbean. Chicago Wilderness will hold a series of webinars that address effective ways to track conservation impact at a landscape scale, including indicators for biodiversity and quality of life. The webinars will lead to a deeper conversation at Congress 2020 on indicators for Chicago Wilderness to adopt in monitoring our collective impact, and on how CW might aggregate monitoring information already being collected by partners.
The goal is to begin to measure the collective impact of Chicago Wilderness partners against clear regional goals for conservation and quality of life. Agreeing on regional goals and metrics is a challenging endeavor for an alliance, especially in a large and diverse landscape. The series of webinars will be a resource to the CW Alliance as well as to CW conservation practitioners interested in learning about successful metrics in other collaborations and intricate landscapes.

For individual CW members, these webinars will provide new tools to evaluate conservation initiatives beyond ecological indicators. For the Green Vision of Chicago Wilderness, the webinar series will help the Alliance move from learning to action. Ideas include a metrics working-group, a working session at the 2020 Congress, in-person discussions with interested stakeholders, and setting of annual and multi-year goals for the Alliance with a visual dashboard.

These free webinars will be recorded and shared on the CW website.

All CW members are invited to participate. You must RSVP above to receive further log in instructions and download Zoom in advance of the call.  Further instructions for downloading Zoom available at
