Please join Shannon Sullivan, Vital Lands Illinois' current facilitation consultant, in an introductory conversation about whiteness, its construction, and its role in conservation within the United States context.  This 90-minute Vital Session is intended as an entry point to thinking broadly about racial equity and justice within conservation and beyond, with a focus on how white people can hold space with other white people to dismantle white supremacy.  Shannon will present a brief and broad overview of the construction of whiteness in the U.S. and then focus on more participatory avenues to engage participants.  All participants will be asked to listen with attention and respond with intention while participating in tending to the well-being of the whole group.
