Bunker Hill Prairie, Sidney R. Yates Flatwoods
Located in Chicago, IL

Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve
Located in Barrington, IL
A wide range of animals make their homes in the wetlands, prairie and woodlands of the Cuba Marsh Forest Preserve. The wetland supports many waterfowl species and wetland plants. This is a scenic place to bicycle, hike, or cross-country ski. For more information, call (847) 948-7750.
Glacial Park

Greenbelt Forest Preserve and the Greenbelt Cultural Center
Located in North Chicago and Waukegan, IL

Greene Valley Forest Preserve
Located off Green Road, between Hobson Road and 75th Street, Woodridge, IL
This high quality oak woodland provides a home for many native birds, mammals and plants and offers an excellent display of wildflowers in May. Bicycling is allowed on multi-purpose trails (trails eight feet or more in width). The paths are maintained with a gravel or mowed grass base. Riding of the trails is prohibited. Kankakee River State Park
Located at 5314 West Route 102, Bourbonnais, IL
The trails in this park stretch for miles along the Kankakee River. A bicycle trail begins at the Davis Creek Area and stretches 10.5 miles to the west end of the park. For information, call (815) 933-1383.
Moraine Hills State Park
Located at 914 South River Road, McHenry, IL
This park features a 48-acre lake, a large marsh, and a wide variety of native plants and animals. It is home to red fox, coyote, mink and opossum and is used by migrating ducks and geese. Palos Forest Preserves
Located in Palos Hills, IL
The Palos Forest Preserves cover 14,000 acres and includes the only surviving Chicago Lake Plain graminoid fen. Visitor features include foot trails, bicycle trails, horse trails, toilets, a visitor center, picnic areas and parking. For more information call (708) 366-9420.
Pratt's Wayne Woods Forest Preserve
Located at Powis Road and Army Trail Road, Wayne, IL
Hikers, bicyclists and horseback riders can explore more than 12 miles of trails at this preserve. This landscape features wetlands that provide habitat for Canada geese, egrets, great blue heron, wood ducks and sandhill cranes. Waterfall Glen Forest Preserve
Located at Cass Avenue and Northgate Road, Darien, IL
