Natural Land Institute invites families, individuals and groups to Family Nature Day at their 721-acre wildlife refuge, Nygren Wetland Preserve (3190 W. Rockton Rd., Rockton, Ill. 61072) You may start at any time and be sure to allow about 2 hours to visit all of the learning stations and more time if you want to take a guided prairie tour. 

Bring the Family and Discover the Joy of Nature! Explore blooming prairies and wetlands. Family friendly hands-on learning fun for all ages with wagon rides available. Kids receive a passport to get stamped that includes a map, questions and activities and they can earn a Nygren Wetland Junior Naturalist badge by visiting 6 out of 10 learning stations when they get their passport stamped. Second year NW Junior Naturalists will earn a new level of recognition. Adults can earn a prize with 6 stamps on their map. Learning Stations include: Prairies, Butterflies & Seeds, Forests, Wetlands, Birds, Mammals with Two Toads Environmental Experiences, Pollinators, Invaders, Archeology with Macktown Living History, Raptors with Northern Illinois Raptor Rehab & Education. Guided tours of the Anne Meyer Wildflower Garden will start at 9:30, 10:30 and 11:30 a.m., and 12:30 p.m.
