Registration is now open online for the much-anticipated 2016 migratory bird symposium: The State Of Stopover 2016 in Wisconsin, October 5-7.
Go to https://stopover2016.wordpress.com/ to register.
The symposium will provide participants with an in-depth look at the growing migratory bird Stopover movement in the Great Lakes, with updates on research, management, and education. It will also be a working symposium that will inspire each Great Lakes state and Ontario to work on building alliances to develop, promote, and expand Stopover conservation initiatives. Accordingly, the symposium has two principal objectives: 1) Summarize all that we know about Stopover actions, accomplishments, and challenges in the Great Lakes Basin; and 2) Develop a concerted, long-term strategy to implement Stopover programs across the Great Lakes Basin that will elevate markedly the conservation emphasis of Stopover habitat protection, acquisition, and education in each state and Ontario.
A registration fee of only $55 includes daily shuttles, event materials, two lunches, coffee, tea, snacks, Tuesday field trips, the SOS Social Mixer on Wednesday, and special activities with the Schlitz Audubon staff on Thursday. The SOS Awards Banquet costs $25/person and is open to Symposium participants and their guests. Friday field trips have a $10 fee for lunch.
