Join Cathy Martin of Save the Dunes as she leads us through the recently-completed extensive restoration of Miller Woods in Gary. This is the 2nd most biodiverse site in the Indiana Dunes, and if you’ve not seen it when spring wildflowers are in bloom, well, you are really missing something. Portions of the hike will be strenuous but most of it is appropriate for moderate-level hikers. Dress for the weather, bring water and wear repellent, and be prepared to walk for long periods in sand. Long pants and closed shoes are recommended because poison ivy can be found along the trail. Meet in the front entrance to the Paul H. Douglas center for Environmental Education.

RSVPs for this event are required – please email to reserve a spot. For more information on the project to restore 1,077 acres of oak savanna in the Indiana dunes, visit our website page at
