Celebrate the strength and stature of our majestic oaks and their importance throughout McHenry County and the Chicagoland region. Rebuild an oak ecosystem as part of the Regional Oak Recovery Plan, made possible by a ComEd Green Region grant. Bring your family, friends and neighbors and join in on our OAKtober planting party. Drop in or stay the afternoon.

  • Help plant hundreds of oak trees and their ecosystem
    companion plants.
  • Make an oak-themed craft or play oak-related games.
  • Enjoy live traditional bluegrass music by Truman's Ridge.
  • Be amongst the oaks of Glacial Park on a guided hike.
  • Get tips on how to care for your oaks at home and watch tree climbing demonstrations by professional arborists from Davey Tree Service. Purchase young, locally-grown oaks for sale by The Land Conservancy of McHenry County and learn about their Oak Keepers volunteer program.
  • Listen to stories of oaks.
  • Bring a picnic lunch or buy food from a local vendor.

Visit the McHenry County Conservation District website and Facebook for more info.
