Join this restoration roundtable showcasing Spring Bluff Nature Preserve and Illinois Beach State Park (North Dunes Nature Preserve) on Tuesday October 6, 2015 beginning at 9:00 am. Both Spring Bluff and Illinois Beach State Park earned "Platinum" level accreditation through the Chicago Wilderness Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program (EERP).

The goal of this roundtable is to highlight the ecological significance of each site, outstanding issues, and provide an introduction to the EERP. Meet at the North Point Marina Administration building in the morning (9:00 am) for presentations on the management at Spring Bluff and North Dunes as well as the EERP application process. This will include highlighting the innovative Blanding's turtle program at the site, IDNR Coastal Management Program, the recent Ramsar designation, issues that each site faces (e.g., shoreline erosion), and critical habitat for the federally endangered Piping plovers. Following those presentations (by 10:30 am or so), the group will walk to the North Dunes shoreline, and then back around to Spring Bluff Nature Preserve and return to the Admin building for lunch (BYOL).

Please RSVP to Jeff Mengler at jmengler@heyassoc.com.

This Roundtable is coordinated by the Chicago Wilderness Natural Resource Management Committee and Chicago Wilderness Excellence in Ecological Restoration Program.
