The American Kestrel is the smallest falcon species found in North America. The decline in kestrel populations across its range has prompted conservation efforts to bolster this important bird. Taylor Joray, graduate student at Illinois State University, has been studying Kane County’s kestrels for three years. He has installed and monitoring nest boxes in forest preserves and other natural areas throughout the region. Joray will present the results from his data and describe the methods employed to boost their population numbers. Advance registration is required. Call 630-444-3190 or e-mailprograms@kaneforest.com to register. For more information visit www.kaneforest.com.
