Chicago Wilderness

Fifteen years ago, 34 diverse and determined organizations looked beyond the limits of what each individual organization was capable of accomplishing and launched an alliance with a regional, collaborative conservation vision.

The founding members included federal, state, and local agencies; public land management agencies, conservation organizations; and scientific and cultural institutions. The alliance has expanded to include municipalities, high schools, universities, homeowner associations, park districts, and corporate partners. Today, more than 250 public and private organizations are working together to restore local nature and improve the quality of life for all who live here, by protecting the lands and waters on which we all depend.
