Nature offers us many benefits: places to explore and enjoy with our families; opportunities for learning and discovery. Healthy ecosystems also provide us with clean air and water, protect against flooding, filter pollutants, and provide habitat for wildlife.
The Chicago Wilderness Corporate Council offers an annual Day of Service to give back to nature and offer residents a chance to help protect and restore the region’s natural areas.
Volunteer in nature near you!
Join us on September 29, 2012 (National Public Lands Day) for the next Day of Service and have fun while contributing to the health of local nature! Families, friends, youth and community groups are welcome. All of us – working together – can make a difference!
All activities are 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., except Blackwell Native Plant Nursery, 8:00-11:00 a.m.; Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie, 9:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m.; and Brooklyn State Wildlife Area, 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
There are volunteer opportunities all around the Chicago Wilderness region. View a list of all participating locations and a map of all locations on the Day of Service Events page.
